Back to Bridal Shower ideas for the Creative Maid of Honor

The Maid of Honor chooses the food selection based on time of day, budget, and theme.

The time of day of the Bridal Shower is an important consideration. If you hold the Bridal Shower anywhere from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, guests are going to expect to be served some kind of brunch, lunch, or at least some hearty appetizers. You could probably get away with lighter food if you organized a late afternoon affair. One piece of advice for the uncertain Maid of Honor: Indicate on the Bridal Shower invitation exactly what type of food will be provided. State, for example, "Light appetizers to be served," or, "Dessert buffet to be provided." This way the guests will know what to expect and plan accordingly.

If you're a Maid of Honor with a low budget, one thing you might try is a potluck Bridal Shower where each guest is asked to bring a certain type of food (drink, appetizer, etc.). And you could even have each guest bring the recipe to be put into a recipe book for the Bride-to-be. Do make sure to specify what each guest should bring. Otherwise you may be remembered as the Maid of Honor who served nothing but potato chips!

If a potluck isn't your style, you could certainly cook and ask the Mother of the Bride (and perhaps the Mother of the Groom), as well as the other Bridesmaids, to help and bring food.

The Maid of Honor may also want to incorporate the theme into her food selection. For instance, if you chose a French theme (because the Bride is going to Paris on her honeymoon?) she could serve bread, cheese, wine, and patisserie.
